Group Fitness consists of a variety of fitness-related classes that range from cardio, dance fitness, water, strength, and mind/body. When you apply to become an instructor with Campus Recreation, you will be required to show proof of your group fitness certification(s). You must complete a successful interview and demonstration of the format(s) that you are applying to teach. Campus Recreation is interested in hiring instructors with national certifications and teaching experience. We are also excited to develop students interested in teaching group fitness.

All group fitness instructors must be:

1. Nationally certified

OR

2. Complete the in-house Group Fitness Instructor Prep Course

Student Positions

Group Fitness Instructor

• Facilitate group fitness classes
• Educate participants on proper form and technique, enforce policies to ensure the safety of all participants
• Students must hold a national certification for group fitness or have completed the in-house group fitness prep course

Undergraduate Program Assistant

• Previous experience in supervising and instructing participants in a fitness environment is required.
• Certification as a group fitness instructor is preferred.
• Includes office responsibilities associated with the successful operation of the group fitness program.
• Assist in the support of a team of 25+ group fitness instructors.
• Assist in the facilitation of group fitness programs.

Graduate Program Assistant

• Previous experience in supervising and instructing participants in a fitness environment is required.
• Certification as a group fitness instructor is preferred.
• Supervise the Undergraduate Program Assistant and a team of 25+ group fitness instructors.
• Facilitate educational offerings to group fitness staff.
• Assist in developing group fitness schedule and the recruitment, onboarding and training of new instructors.
