Spring 2010 Group Fitness New Instructor Training Program
The New Instructor Training (NIT) program is open to any Campus Recreation Member. Participants will learn how to teach group fitness classes through this 8-week comprehensive training series. Classes will be offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the ARC. Monday classes will include a lecture covering essential information from the American Council on Exercise (ACE) Group Fitness Manual. Wednesday and Friday will be dedicated to practical application of material.
Skills include:
- Education of proper body mechanics to teach form and technique
- Knowledge of human anatomy and movement
- Designing effective, creative and fun fitness classes for all skill levels
- Counting and cuing music
- Introduction to multiple formats
- Prepares participants to take the nationally recognized American Council on Exercise (ACE) Group Fitness Certification
Spring 2010 Schedule
Date: Monday, January 25 – Friday, March 19
Time: Monday/Wednesday 3-4 pm and Friday 3-5 pm
Location: ARC (Rooms TBA)
Cost: $125
(Includes ACE Group Fitness Manual, Study Guide, Practice Test, Training and Spring 2010 Unlimited Group Fitness Pass.)
An audition and interview will take place Sunday, April 4, 2010 for those interested in teaching fitness classes in the Summer or Fall of 2010.
How to Participate
Registration begins Monday, November 29 at ARC Member Services.
Keep your receipt as you will need it to receive your materials and Unlimited Spring Pass on the first day of class.
Attend an information session and submit an application, cover letter and resume under the Employment section of the Campus Recreation website.
