Drop-In Class Descriptions

The class descriptions listed here are offered at different times throughout the year. Check the group fitness schedule for availability of current sessions. Learn how to participate.

Call (217) 333-3806 the day of the session to reserve your equipment for Cycle and Strength Circuit sessions. Participants must arrive 5 minutes early to the session to claim their reserved spot or risk losing their spot to waitlisted individuals.


Cardio Options

  • Basic Step
    This class is designed for the first-time stepper. Learn the basic stepping patterns used in the more advanced step classes while still getting the benefits of a great cardiovascular workout. Look like a pro by learning from step-one!
  • Cardio Caliente
    Heat things up with the hottest Latin music and moves. You are sure to be energized with this hot and spicy cardio workout. Think you can’t work your hips? Think again and come try it!
  • Cardio Camp
    Take charge of your day with this balanced workout combining cardio and strength exercises. You'll move through a series of drills and stations utilizing steps, resistance gear and jump ropes.
  • Cardio Dance Party
    Fun and effective for all lovers of dance! Cardio Dance is a high-energy, lo impact aerobics class incorporating many different forms of dance choreography. You will shuffle, shake and leap your way through this 60 minute exhilarating cardio blast workout! No dance experience necessary.
  • Cardio Strength
    This exciting workout combines a moderate to high intensity 45 minute cardio workout with 15 minutes of functional strength. Enjoy energy building cardio choreography and muscle strengthening all in one fun class. Appropriate for all fitness levels, so join us and jump start your day with a great workout!
  • Cycling *
    Our indoor cycling classes start with a 5-8 minute warm-up of easy pedaling and focus on proper technique. Once the class starts be prepared to ride your way through rolling hills, steep climbs, false flats, sprints, and much more! Please call ahead to reserve your spot.
  • Cycle N Core *
    Cycle N Core is the best of both worlds!  This class will consist of 40 minutes of cardio intense cycling coupled with 20 minutes of core work. Improve strength and endurance in one fun, inspiring hour. If you're looking for a new take on cycling or just missing the basics, this class is what you're missing! Come join Emily once a week and get over the Wednesday blues! Please call ahead to reserve your spot.
  • KickFit
    The goal of this class is to teach proper kicking and punching techniques in order to get the most out of your work out. Using high energy and proper techniques you are able to have a great learning experience, great workout and of course a GREAT TIME!
  • Kick N Core
    This cardio Kickboxing session uses advanced choreography for a high intensity cardio workout followed by and extreme abs and back portion that will have you feeling strong and powerful.
  • Power Cycle *
    Take your cycle skills to the next level with this advanced class that involves cardio challenges, hills, varying speeds and resistance, and endurance segments. Please call ahead to reserve your spot.
  • Step It Up!
    Designed to challenge the avid stepper. The choreography is more complex. Creative patterns, multiple options are demonstrated to meet the varying needs of the multilevel participants.
  • Step Strength
    This session offers a well-rounded mix of step and strength exercises. You'll get the best of both worlds with this awesome interval workout.
  • Zumba
    Check out the dance craze that is sweeping the nation! Inspired by Latin dance and music, Zumba uses a variety of styles in its routines, including cumbia, merengue, salsa, reggaeton, hip-hop, pop, mambo, rumba, flamenco, and calypso. Music selections include both fast and slow rhythms to help tone and sculpt the body with easy to follow dance moves! No dance experience required.

Strength Options

  • Body Blitz
    This 1 hr class is dedicated to pushing your body to the next level. Sports-inspired cardio workout with strength conditioning, toning, and muscle development through use of plyometrics, interval training, and weights. Body Blitz will challenge your muscular endurance as well as balance and coordination by moving through all planes of motion with multi-joint and compound exercises.

  • Core
    Target and challenge the abdominals, back, and hips in this intense and dynamic workout. You will learn how to effectively strengthen the core using proper form and technique! By building core strength, you will be able to improve your posture and ward off low back pain!
  • Get on the Ball!
    This workout is designed to sculpt and tone your entire body with emphasis on the core using the BOSU, stability balls, and medicine balls. Experience an intense yet fun workout by combing unique sequences of traditional and contemporary body sculpting exercises. Ball training heightens postural awareness, spinal stabilization and core strengthening. This session will give you a total body workout and you'll have a ball doing it too!
  • Step Strength

  • Strength
    A full body workout that targets all of the major muscles groups. You’ll integrate strength and stretching exercises to produce stronger bones and muscles and increase your metabolism to help maintain a healthy body weight.
  • Strength Circuit
    Looking for a fresh, innovative exercise experience? This class incorporates the use of the CorePole® to provide a functional, intense, and fun workout. You will perform movements that target Strength, Cardio, Flexibility and Stability all in one class! Limited spots available.

Mind/Body Options

  • Iyengar Yoga
    Iyengar yoga is based on the teachings of living yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar and includes three distinguishing characteristics. (1) Emphasis on body alignment. This protects the joints, muscles, organs and tissues of the body. Our body is stressed by everything from sports to everyday life. Concentration on alignment relieves these stresses and promotes health. (2) Props. The use of props allows for better alignment and makes Iyengar yoga accessible to everyone no matter what your current condition or age. You do not have to be flexible or in shape to enjoy class. (3) Teaching method. Instruction is clear and easy to understand. These elements, unique to Iyengar yoga, make yoga available to all ages, beginners and experienced practioners. Classes will help build strength, stamina, flexibility and balance, and lead to a better sense of well-being.
  • Meditation and Relaxation
    Close your eyes. Become aware of your body … how it feeling right now. If you have any tension, gently breathe into these places … and imagine them relaxing … all unnecessary tension…dissolving. This 90 minute class will combine yoga and meditation practices to relax your body and free your mind from the stresses of everyday life.
  • MVe Pilates *
    This new class utilizes the "Pilates Chair", as redesigned by Peak Pilates. Moving forward from Joseph Pilates' original ideas, MVe allows for new muscle movements and a refreshing workout that leaves you feeling stretched and strengthened. Each instructor has been trained by a Peak Pilates professional on usage and safety of the chair. Please call ahead to reserve your spot.
  • Pure Pilates
    This basic level mat session is designed to lengthen and strengthen your entire body using core muscles. Based on the teachings of Joseph Pilates, these movements will help you gain postural alignment, balance and flexibility.
  • Pure Yoga
    Hatha classes place emphasis on physical alignment, understanding of correct anatomical movement, and various deep relaxation techniques. It increases strength, flexibility, and awareness of the body, developing more healthful movement; relaxations techniques help with stress more effectively. Classes are open to student questions or requests, and vary from week to week.
  • YogaLates
    Blending the two practices of Yoga and Pilates allows you to strengthen both the mind and the body through the combination of poses and exercises. Join this fusion class for an intense workout designed to develop core strength, tone muscles, increase flexibility, and reduce stress.
  • Yoga Strength
    Gain the benefits of stretching, core strengthening, overall body toning and awareness. Combine the benefits of Eastern and Western disciplines to enhance strength, posture, flexibility and balance and leave with an overall sense of well-being!

Water Options

You must be able to swim and be comfortable in the water to participate.

  • Cardio H20
    Join us for an exhilarating workout combining cardio and strength in the water! You’ll leave feeling refreshed and empowered! This session will take place in the shallow water at CRCE.
  • DWE Aqua Fit
    Increase muscular strength and cardiovascular fitness with minimal impact on joints. Buoyancy belts are provided. This session will take place at the ARC.

Dance Fitness

  • BalletFit
    A great way to create lean muscles, BalletFit focuses on toning your body using fun exercises from ballet and stretches from typical dance classes. BalletFit is a great workout for all muscle groups, and a fun way to gain coordination and flexibility! No dance experience required!
  • Belly Dance
    Slide, sway, shimmy and sweat in this core-intensive, creative and fun introduction to Belly Dance! This class is designed to build strength, balance, flexibility, endurance, muscular control and whole body awareness while breaking down basic belly dance movements, drills, shimmies, percussive hip work, core strengthening exercises and dance combinations. Belly Dancing is appropriate for all levels of students from beginner to professional. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement.
  • DanceFit
    Get the workout of a dancer! Stretch, strengthen, and sculpt major muscles in the body while getting a cardio workout. It's a taste of Ballet, Jazz, and Latin dance exercises to improve flexibility and build endurance. No dance experience required!
  • Zumba
