1960s Highlights
The tumultuous 60s had its
share of noteable events. The Peace Corps was founded
by President John F. Kennedy, who wouldn't see the end
of this decade. While the Soviets launched their first

small screen, and the Beatles became an overnight sensation
throngs of young women everywhere. The end of that decade
saw Neil Armstrong become the first man on the moon,
while hoards of young people migrated to the festival
at Woodstock.

saw the first Paralympics; the US figureskating team
is killed in a plane crash; Rod Laver wins tennis' coveted
