Efforts To Combat H1N1
Facilities and Member Services
Campus Recreation has made a concerted effort to combat H1N1 within our facilities by installing automatic hand sanitizer units in all of our activity spaces and in our common areas. Our Building Service Worker Staff are ensuring that door handles are being cleaned and disinfected on a daily basis and that our locker rooms/showers are disinfected nightly. We have also implement the Triad and Gym Valet system on most pieces of fitness equipment which we have found to be the most effective way to promote the disinfection of fitness equipment by patrons before and after each use. Our Facility Assistant staff also cleans and disinfects all fitness equipment pieces at least once daily. We have placed Automatic Purell Hand Sanitizers Wall Units in the following areas of ARC and CRCE:
Fitness Operations
- ARC Lower Level – 8
- ARC Entrance Level – 4
- ARC Upper Level – 8
- CRCE Upper Level – 6
Multi-Purpose Rooms
- ARC MP1, MP2, MP3, MP4, MP5, and MP7
- CRCE MP1 and MP2
Gymnasiums

In addition Facility student staff have been instructed to:
- Spray and wipe sports equipment upon return with Lysol Disinfectant.
- Self-sanitize after several swipes and member access sights.
- Wipe down phones, radios, computer mouse, after each shift change with Lysol disinfectant wipes.
Group fitness staff ensures that participants wipe down their mats and balls at the end of each class. In addition, instructors go through and do a quick disinfecting spray at the end of each class.
Marketing
- Hung flyers in bathroom/locker room displays educating people on what to do if sick, how to take preventative measures, and contact information.
- Installing info signs above all wall-mounted hand-sanitizer machines.
- Ordered hand sanitizer giveaway items which are handed out at events, etc.
