Personal Training Positions

Personal trainers consists of student staff in the ARC and CRCE facilities. If interested in the position of a personal trainer with Campus Recreation, certification is required. Campus Recreation supports the following personal training certifications: ACE, ACSM, NASM and NSCA.

When you apply for a personal training position with Campus Recreation, you will be required to show proof of your personal training certification or provide proof that you have purchased the study materials and exam. To be hired you will have a successful interview, and pass an in-house written and practical exam demonstrating the ability to be a quality personal trainer. The first semester you are hired will be spent going through training and mentoring other personal trainers.

Campus Recreation has an educational alliance with the National Academy of Sports Medicine and students can receive a 20% discount on their educational materials and exam. You will just need to contact NASM directly and let them know you are with the University of Illinois and would like to receive the discount. If you have questions pertaining to the certification process, please contact Brian Baxter.
